All were clean, some were set aside for a control and remained clean through the study. The agar dishes were allowed to incubate for 5 days after they were poured to insure there was no contamination. They sat open for 5 minutes, then were closed. The work area was sprayed with alcohol and fans turned on 5 minutes prior to opening the agar dishes. The only test I did any different was the SAB, I sprayed up to my elbows with alcohol. ![]() I didn’t use the best sterile tek, or much of it at all honestly. Gloves were sprayed with alcohol and that was all, no mask or long sleeves. I started with what I believed would have the highest to lowest success, giving the better odds to the cheaper options since the air had more time to settle. ![]() I decided to set up in the dinning room instead of the “lab” so the test would have high contamination rates. Then wiped down the table with alcohol and let the air settle for a few minutes. I set up in my dinning room, shut off the fans and put up the gate so my dogs couldn’t walk past. I used a fan filter unit (flow hood) with a hepa filter (99.99%), a 20” box fan with a merv 12 filter taped to the front (fan hood), a still air box (SAB) and the open air.
